Title: Islington Climate Change Partnership in UK
Islington (London) has set a target to save 55,000 tonnes of CO2 by 2010. This is equivalent to almost 6000 return flights from London to Sydney or the annual energy use of 9000 average homes. In order to reach this target, a unique local Climate Change Partnership has been established. Organisations joining the partnership commit to reducing their CO2 emissions by 15% by 2010 through a variety of measures including efficiency improvements, behavioural change and renewables projects. Over 50 organisations have joined, ranging from international law firms, hospitals and universities to local shops and charities.
