Title: Zero Emission Ships
The project ZEMShips (Zero Emission Ships) stands for a future-oriented maritime application of fuel cells: In the summer of 2008 the first passenger ship (capacity 100) driven by fuel cells will go into operation Linienbetrieb on the Alster River within the city of Hamburg. Its fuel will be purified industrial waste hydrogen. The success of ZEMShips will demonstrate to potential operators, especially in sensitive areas such as inner-city waterways or nature preserves, that ship traffic can operate emission-free and without fuels that endanger the waterways.
