Title: Reduction of CO2 fleet emissions
BMW is taking a step forward and is striving to reduce CO2 fleet emissions not only for niche models but also for large-volume models. Between 1990 and 2006 the general fuel consumption was reduced by ca. 30%. Some 40% of new vehicles of the BMW Group (BMW, MINI, Rolls Royce) in Europe for 2008 fall under a maximum of 140 g CO2 per kilometer. This was accomplished with various measures such as tires with less rolling friction, display of transmission shifting points, an auto start/stop system, and brake energy regeneration, all of which serve to reduce fuel consumption.
