Title: Virtual Biogas
This pilot project purifies raw gas from the biogas plant Bruck/Leitha (Austria) to the quality of natural gas and feeds it into the network of the local gas provider and to “gas” stations of project partners, where it is sold to drivers with gas-powered vehicles. For the first time, the purification of 100 m³ biogas per hour (800,000 m³/year) employs a membrane technology developed in Austria. This technology purifies biogas with the help of semi-permeable membranes at low cost to the purity level of natural gas. Biogas is a CO2 neutral and versatile fuel. The use of biogas as fuel can significantly reduce the emission of pollutants and greenhouse gases from traffic and contribute to more environmentally friendly mobility.
