Title: Modernization of heating system at Budapest railway station saves 60%
In 2006 MÁV Eastern railway station in Budapest awarded Cothec Ltd. the contract to renovate and modernize the steam heating system of the facility and to operate the new system. Work had to be completed within four months without disrupting passenger service and with minimal inconveniences. After planning, the old heating system was removed and replaced with three new gas boilers with the total performance of 1500 kW, 450 meters of pre-insulated piping and some 350 new radiators. The new heating system operates below the current EU standard emission rates and yields nearly 60% energy saving per year. The contract also covers maintenance and monitoring to assure optimal operation.
