Title: World's biggest solar cooking project
Solar cookers are used primarily for domestic applications. This project in India developed larger systems of 2 and 2.3 meter diameter for community cooking applications. Training programs were organized and technology was transferred to the aspiring manufacturers. The products were tested and certified by an authorized test center. The community solar cooker is easy to manufacture, assemble, use and maintain. The system is cost-effective with short amortization periods. The product has been promoted on a large scale in charitable organizations, industries and hotels. The largest installation encompassed 360 cookers in 14 months. The community solar cooker has excellent replication potential and can be mass-produced in any part of the world; fuel savings and avoidance of CO2 emissions are important benefits.
