Title: Cooperative district heating project of Salzburg hotels
In 2005 numerous hotels of the tourism region Leogang/Asitz formed an association in order to establish a common biomass district heating network. The € 2.4 million project was implemented under the management of the Salzburger Energie Genossenschaft mbH and serves 22 customers with 5000 MWh of environmentally friendly energy; this saves some 500,000 liters of heating oil or 1300 tons of CO2. In addition, a nature trail and an information board were set up in order to acquaint guests and interested parties in general with biomass.
