Title: Combined wave energy converter and hydrogen producer
This offshore Floating Wave Electric Power Station (FWEPS) will generate electricity from ocean wave energy and produce hydrogen through seawater electrolysis. The technique will economically meet power demands without damaging the ecosystem and also counter greenhouse gas effects. This Russian project is presently developing components of the power complex. The FWEPS module itself is a floating capsule mechanical wave energy converter with an oscillating drive that adapts to ocean conditions. Seawater electrolysis is a promising technology for producing clean-burning hydrogen. Applications range from shipping to coastal and island settlements.
