Title: Pedal-powered eco-generator
Although the idea of incorporating a dynamo in a bicycle is NOT new, the idea of installing a high-tech generator using an induction motor or a modified alternator is. The current project implements the idea to make electricity available in remote areas for lighting or powering a personal computer. Some 20% of Panamanians still lack electric grid service. After 30-40 minutes of pedaling, the bike generator has delivered 40 to 70 AH to a battery to run a computer for 2 hours or provide 3 days of lighting. The 12-volt system is compatible with photovoltaic systems.
