Title: City of Ann Arbor LED Streetlight Program

The City of Ann Arbor is installing LED streetlights to reduce lighting costs and greenhouse gas emissions. After successfully piloting an LED replacement for our downtown "globe" lights, the City received a grant from the Downtown Development Authority for retrofits to over 1000 lights. This installation will save the City over $100,000 annually, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 267 tons CO2e annually. Testing continues on LED replacements for neighborhood streetlights, with the goal of replacing all public lighting with LEDs. Full implementation would cut public lighting energy use in half and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2,200 tons of CO2e annually.
