Title: Thermal renovation of an elementary school near Salzburg
Built in 1969, the elementary school Rif/Rehhof in Hallein, Austria, was thermally renovated in a two-year project; a solar system was also installed for economical operation. The existing heating system was replaced with a gas caloric system. Energy is stored in a tank that is also fed by the 6 m² solar panels. These measures reduced the energy required for heating and hot water by 40%. The improved combustion and the solar system along with the thermal renovation yielded a CO2 emission reduction of 50%.
