Title: Inner-city apartment building is energy model
The association Home Austria an inner-city apartment building that is exemplary in terms of energy. High-rise construction work in the narrowness of Salzburg’s downtown proved to be a particular challenge. The following measures were implemented: The insulated shell has no thermal bridges, the southern orientation of windows optimizes the solar harvest, and balconies on the south side provide adequate shading in the summer. Domestic hot water is provided by collectors with a storage tank in the basement. Remaining heat for heating and hot water is provided by Salzburg’s regional heating system. This thermal concept has enabled a heating requirement of 26 kWh/m²a. The project was completed in June 2009.
