Title: Energy efficiency and sustainability as the best production conditions for high-quality products
Technology for saving primary energy is more in demand than ever. In the course of extending the Hilti plant in Thüringen (Vorarlberg, Austria), the company implemented various measures for efficient energy utilization and use of resource-conserving, regenerative energy sources. The energy concept encompasses the utilization of waste heat from production and an air-ground-coupled heat pump, both serving heating purposes in the winter. The use of ground water for cooling the production machines is particularly interesting, as it does not use a chilling device or its heat exchanger; heat recovery is also employed in combination with a heat pump. These measures reduce annual CO2 emissions by 213 tons and also diminish overall energy requirements and operating costs.
