Title: Model region for electric mobility
2009 is the test year for the project Vlotte (the word play ensues from “Flotte” = fleet, with the V for Vorarlberg resulting in a homonym). The province of Vorarlberg is a model region supported by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund. The project combines environmentally friendly individual mobility with the public transportation system. The electric refueling infrastructure is provided for free at Vorarlberg’s commuter railway stations. The goal of the Vlotte project is to offer fair and affordable mobility in the province and to drastically reduce CO2 emissions. Today 100 electric vehicles are on the road in Vorarlberg. The cost of energy per 100 km ranges from €2 to €3 with an average consumption of 18 kWh per 100 km. As of September, the required power will be supplied by a newly established photovoltaic plant, which ensures additional CO2 emission reduction.
