Title: Solar heat integrated energy efficiency for paint shop
The Herk body and paint shop in Knittelfeld (Styria, Austria) has taken an important step toward sustainable minimization of energy requirements. The Herk company’s energy concept serves as a model for energy saving and strives to cover the remaining energy demand with renewables. After an analysis of energy consumers in the company, a number of measures were implemented to improve the situation. Domestic hot water is covered by a solar system that also supports the heating system; the process heat in the drying booths was reduced by 30% via a new control system; and the heating requirement for the building was reduced via renovation measures. Annual savings amount to 130,000 kWh and 28,000 kg of CO2.
