Title: Green brewery with zero CO2 emissions
The Göss brewery in Leoben (Styria, Austria) is pursuing the goal of brewing beer without CO2 emissions. The Green Brewery project has increased the use of renewables and has significantly reduced primary energy consumption. These successes have been due to measures to recover process heat, the use of district heat from a neighboring plant, and the production of biogas from the company’s own production wastes. Since 2007 the brewery’s energy demand has fallen by 6.2% for a saving of 200 tons of CO2 annually. After full implementation of the Green Brewery project, the CO2 reduction will be 600 tons annually.
