Title: Clean Energy for the Future
A joint project of the mechatronic students in the 11th grade of the technical secondary school in Steyr, Austria, and a technical school in Vienza, Italy, is working on a complete model of a hydroelectric screw. With this type of turbine, water is fed into the top in order to assure passability for fish and small floating matter. The drive is applicable especially for small waterways with little slope. Due to the low rotational speed of the screw, the turbine is quiet. A plastic model of the screw has already been implemented. By 2010 the turbine screw is to be enhanced.
