Title: Biomass and solar
The village of Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben in Austria’s Burgenland has made a significant contribution to environment and climate protection. All public buildings and 95 households are supplied with heat from biomass and solar energy. In Unterrabnitz a plant with two furnaces provides heat, and in Schwendgraben a wood chip plant handles this job. These measures save €100,000 annually in heating costs and save a large portion of CO2 emissions, as they displace some 300,000 liters of heating oil from foreign countries.
