Title: Setting up a demonstration model for the application of rice husk gasification in Viet Nam
Traditional argil burning using rice husk as fuel is an important economic activity in Mekong Delta and creates a lot of job for poor people. However, it produces a lot of local air pollution which has serious effect on neighboring communities. The government of Vietnam has issued regulations to interdict the traditional kiln and strongly promoted fuel oil and coal fire kilns. Existing factory owners only have two choices: closing their factory and generating unemployment or switching to fossil fuel kiln with high initial investment cost. This project aims to tackle this problem by introducing a new kiln type with rice husk gasification into Vietnam.
