Title: When water brings economic opportunities, education, hygiene and health to China
Water supply in the Chinese countryside is scarce and inadequate in many locations, especially in Guizhou province which is the poorest province in China. The goal of this project is to permanently improve the drinking water supply and the community hygiene in disadvantaged and isolated villages. Rain catching tanks, wells and water networks are constructed in villages to improve people’s everyday life. At the same time, ID trains local water committees to manage and maintain the drinking water facilities. Beneficiaries are also informed about ecological issues and about links between water quality, hygiene and health. Access to drinkable water is a prerequisite for the enhancement of living conditions in these Chinese districts.
