Title: HyMeC - BIOLOGICAL COMBINED PRODUCTION OF HYDROGEN, METHANE AND COMPOST FROM BIODEGRADABLE WASTES
The project aims at an innovative energy recovery from waste through hydrogen and subsequent methane anaerobic bio-production, followed by material recovering through aerobic composting of the solid effluent of the energy recovery phase. The results obtained were interesting. The average hydrogen production was of 76 Nl H2/kg waste and the average methane production was of about 700 Nl CH4/kg waste. The outflow from the second bioreactor was dewatered, mixed with wood chips and treated aerobically, leading to the production of a compost of good quality, thus closing the cycle of energy and material recovery from biodegradable wastes.
