Title: BIOCHAR RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The exponential population growth, limited access to resources for agriculture, degradation / alkalinity / hardening of soils, food security, energy, climate change and global warming are the various concerns. Biochar is a part of the solution for the above aspects. There is a need to create awareness among the farmers to adopt Biochar application and also adopt appropriate best technologies for improving the fertility of the soils. Integrating Biochar production and application locally is a sustainable practice then large scale production and dissemination.
The main objective of the project is: To discover the existing best Biochar plus practices in parts of India for improving the soil fertility and other aspects; To do research and develop sustainable Biochar plus amendments in the context of small and marginal farmers in parts of India; To create large scale awareness and disseminate information related to the positive aspects of Biochar.
