Title: RENDEV: Reinforcing provision of sustainable Energy services in Bangladesh and Indonesia for poverty alleviation and sustainable DEVelopment
80% of households in Bangladesh and 40% Indonesia do not have access to electricity and rely on kerosene for lighting. In such a context, the RENDEV project aimed to encourage access to solar technology through an innovative approach mobilizing microfinance and microenterprise development. The project managed to raise awareness of stakeholders (policy makers, microfinance institutions, energy suppliers, micro entrepreneurs, etc.) on the benefits of renewable energies and on the role of microfinance can play in promoting access to solar technologies and designed for each country adapted financial models that will help ensure affordable, reliable and sustainable access to solar energy.
