Title: Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy at a Medical Facility in Kommuna VIllage (EERE)
This project utilized renewable energy sources and energy efficient construction methods to demonstrate energy self-sufficiency at a new medical facility in Kommuna Village in the remote Batken region of Kyrgyzstan. The project demonstrates the pairing of modern renewable energy technologies with old methods to achieve a level of energy independence, improve general living conditions, and to increase community capacity to solve community problems. One of the main results was to provide proper facilities for much needed medical services. This medical center also contributed to reduce poverty and regional ethnic tension and demonstrated how to mitigate negative effects on the environment at the local level.
