Title: Onshore Power supply
Port of Gothenburg was the first port in the world to provide high voltage Onshore Power Supply (OPS) for cargo vessels in year 2000. Implementation of OPS provides an opportunity not only to improve air quality, working conditions and reduction of noise, but also to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, one of the main contributors to global warming. Currently there are five quays at the Ro/ro Terminals that can offer OPS and ten vessels regularly use these connections. Today over 20% of all ship calls to the Ro/ro-terminals in Port of Gothenburg are connected to OPS, approx. 1700 out of 8000 calls.
