Title: Burren LIFE Project - Farming for Conservation in the Burren
The BurrenLIFE Project (BLP) was established in recognition of the importance of farming in protecting a variety of habitats, including limestone pavements and orchid-rich grasslands which are considered of European importance. The BLP derives its name from two sources; the Burren region and the European Commission LIFE Nature fund, from which the BLP receives 75% of its overall funding of €2.2million. The core objective of the BLP is to develop a model for the sustainable agriculture management through a range of practical farming measures.
