Title: Renewable Energy Production in a Waste Water Treatment Plant
The potential energy of water exiting 20 meters above ground level from a secondary sedimentation tank in the waste water treatment plant of Infraserv GmbH & Co. Höchst KG is being used to produce emission free, renewable energy. The water at this point is diverted into pipes and flows through a Pump-As-Turbine that transports the energy to a generator and produces electricity. The electrical energy is fed in the net and is then available for use. The implementation of this project was possible under the frame of the German Renewable Energy Act and has increased the energy efficiency of the plant.
